2nd Shift Mold Setter
Location: Macomb County, MI
Pay: $21.00 - $24.75 per hour
Type: Contract-to-Hire
Job Summary
We are seeking a 2nd Shift Mold Setter to prepare injection molding machines and support equipment for production. This role includes installing and removing molds, setting machine parameters, connecting water, air, and hydraulic lines, handling materials, and completing required documentation.
Responsibilities
- Read and understand setup instructions, mold functions, and water diagrams.
- Set barrel temperatures after purging previous materials.
- Clean mold back plates and machine platens before and after mold changes.
- Install and remove molds following established procedures.
- Safely operate an overhead crane during mold changes.
- Connect and disconnect water, air, hydraulic, electrical, and hot runner systems.
- Verify all connections are leak-free and functioning properly.
- Follow water line diagrams and document changes when needed.
- Ensure all water lines are connected, flow is verified, and safety locks are installed.
- Test hydraulic and pneumatic systems for proper operation.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and remove trip hazards.
- Fill machine hoppers with materials using ladders, buckets, or automatic feeders.
- Monitor dryers to ensure resin availability and replace filters as needed.
- Track and document resin usage and complete required paperwork, including dryer slips, labels, and material receipts.
- Collect and weigh purged materials for disposal or recycling.
- Operate a forklift and material handling equipment to move materials and molds.
- Return molds and materials to proper storage locations and accurately record transactions in the ERP system.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Knowledge of safe mold setup practices and injection molding processes.
- One to three months of on-the-job training required.
- Good attendance and disciplinary record required.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment and complete documentation accurately.
