About the Role
The Agency is seeking an experienced Communication Manager (EL1 Equivalent) to provide strategic communication advice and lead the development and delivery of communication activities.
This role will work closely with senior leaders and business areas to create communication strategies, manage content across multiple platforms, and ensure messages are clear, consistent, and aligned with organisational priorities.
The successful candidate will be an experienced communications professional who can confidently manage competing priorities, engage with senior stakeholders, and deliver high-quality communication outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver communication strategies, plans, and communication products that support organisational priorities.
- Provide trusted communication advice to senior leaders and business areas.
- Create clear and engaging content for a range of audiences, including executive messaging, internal communications, digital content, and stakeholder updates.
- Translate complex information into simple, audience-friendly communication materials.
- Manage digital content across relevant platforms, ensuring content is accurate, accessible, and compliant with Australian Government standards.
- Coordinate communication activities across multiple channels to ensure consistent messaging.
- Monitor and evaluate communication activities and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Manage communication workflows, priorities, and requests.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and government sector.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring where required.
Must Have Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Current Baseline Security Clearance
- Demonstrated experience working in a communications, corporate communications, public relations, or strategic communications role.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience developing communication strategies and communication plans.
- Strong written communication skills, with experience producing high-quality communication materials including:
- Executive communications
- Internal communications
- Briefs and reports
- Digital content
- Stakeholder updates
- Experience providing communication advice to senior executives and stakeholders.
- Experience managing digital communication platforms or content management systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working within the Australian Government or Defence environment.
- Experience with digital platforms such as GovCMS, Confluence, SharePoint, or similar systems.
- Experience leading or mentoring a small team.
- Knowledge of Australian Government communication standards and accessibility requirements.
