About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Delivery Specialist to join the Project team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a significant, staff-focused transformation encompassing organisational, cultural, process, and technology change.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will lead and manage the delivery of project outcomes and deliverables, providing project management expertise to support successful delivery. You will establish key objectives and strategies, apply best practice frameworks, and develop targeted project plans. Working collaboratively with stakeholders, you will define project scope and provide technical advice on budgets, timelines, and deliverables. You will proactively identify and mitigate risks, while driving continuous improvement to enhance the effectiveness and outcomes of the project.
You will also provide guidance and mentorship to staff throughout all stages of the project management life cycle. This includes identifying development opportunities and promoting best practice approaches to strengthen project management capability across the team.
Location and Contract Term: This role can be based in Canberra, Brisbane or Albury . 12 month contract with 3 x 4 - month contract extension options pending budget and delegate approval.
Security Requirements: Applicants must be Australian Citizens and hold a baseline security clearance.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will lead and manage the delivery of project outcomes and deliverables, providing project management expertise to support successful delivery. You will also provide guidance and mentorship to staff throughout all stages of the project management life cycle. This includes identifying development opportunities and promoting best practice approaches to strengthen project management capability across the team.
- Provide high-level, technical advice on contemporary complex project management, including methodologies, tools, and techniques.
- Coordinate and undertake high level research, analysis and implementation of project management and design methodologies to support the management of the project within the agency.
- Provide advice and develop solutions to complex project issues, ensuring achievement of project outcomes and objectives.
- Monitors and maintains financial records to agreed requirements for compliance and audit.
- Collates required financial data and reports for analysis and to facilitate decision-making.
- Ensures that effective project monitoring and control processes, change control, risk management and quality processes are employed and maintained.
- Monitors and controls resources, revenue and capital expenditures against the project budget.
- Manages the expectations of key project stakeholders.
- Plans and drives scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for the project.
- Obtains input from, and agreement to requirements from a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Negotiates with stakeholders to manage competing priorities and conflicts.
- Is a proactive and experienced Project Delivery Specialist, who supports the delivery of complex projects, ensuring they are on time, within scope and budget.
- Identifies, manages and leads the delivery of complex project deliverables, including effectively planning sequencing, dependencies and delivery timelines.
- Establishes and maintains strong strategic relationships with key business partners and senior leaders to influence project outcomes and support project delivery.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and negotiation skills, translating complex and technical information into clear, actionable insights for a wide range of stakeholders across multiple channels.
- Provides strong leadership to project teams, fostering a high performing culture and setting clear expectations.
- Coaches, supports, and builds project management capability across the project team to promote consistent and effective project delivery practices.
- Certification in project management (e.g. PRINCE2, agile) would be highly regarded but is not essential.
- Experience supporting the delivery of complex project deliverables within software and business process improvement projects would be highly regarded but is not essential
