Data Center Project Developer

Introduction / Context
Monroe Consulting Group, an Executive Recruitment firm, is partnering with a leading organisation in the Industrial sector to hire a Data Center Project Developer. This opportunity is based in Malaysia.
Position Overview
The Data Center Project Developer is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing growth opportunities within the data centre market segment through strategic customer engagement and solution-based selling.
This role plays a critical part in driving business expansion, influencing project specifications, and establishing long-term partnerships that support the organisation’s growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth & Strategy:

• Develop and execute segment strategy for data center markets (hyperscale, colocation, enterprise)
• Identify and qualify new business opportunities aligned with sustainability and growth priorities (Chiller, CDU, FWU)
• Build robust opportunity pipelines and manage data center customer expectations
• You will promote and propose Chiller & Equipment to Data Center owners, consultants, and contractors

Customer Engagement & Relationship Management:

• Responsible for developing long-term customer relationships
• Building close business relationships with customers, especially key accounts
• Maximizing account penetration and customer retention
• Identify potential opportunities & develop solutions with existing & new customers
• Negotiates value, addresses resistance, and closes the sale
• Provide customer feedback to support continuous improvement, innovation, and portfolio development

Technical Aptitude:

• Differentiates & made the organisation a preferred supplier
• Applies strong understanding of HVAC systems, mission critical cooling, and sustainable design principles
• Partner with sales teams, engineering, product management, controls, service, and contracting to develop customer proposals and holistic solutions

Operational Excellence:

• Update the new project forecast timely manner into the system
• You also need to ensure all works carried out in accordance with the specified quality and EHS standards

Key Requirements
Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of working experience in data centre-related sectors, engineering sales, and the HVAC industry
• Experience working in a matrixed environment
• Experience with hyperscalers or major colocation providers is preferred

Technical / Functional Expertise

• Knowledge of data centre cooling technologies and mechanical system design
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, mission critical cooling, and sustainable design principles
• Experience with Chiller, CDU, and FWU solutions
• Ability to develop customer proposals and holistic solutions through cross-functional collaboration
