Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Work across major mining projects with a strong focus on conveyors, transfer stations and bulk materials handling systems. This is an opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to take technical ownership of mechanical packages across studies, detailed design and project delivery.
 
You’ll work across overland and plant conveyors, feeders, chutes, bins, hoppers, transfer stations and associated mechanical equipment, supporting projects from early studies through to execution.
 
About the Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across the design and delivery of mechanical and materials handling packages throughout study, detailed design and execution phases.
 
Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the design and delivery of conveyor systems, transfer stations and bulk materials handling equipment
• Develop and review mechanical equipment specifications, calculations, datasheets and technical documentation
• Engineering of conveyors, feeders, chutes, bins, hoppers and associated mechanical equipment
• Support concept, prefeasibility, feasibility and detailed design activities
• Undertake equipment selection, technical evaluations and vendor reviews
• Coordinate mechanical interfaces with structural, civil, electrical, process and piping disciplines
• Provide technical input across project execution, construction and commissioning activities
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and designers

 
To be successful, you will bring:

• Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer
• Significant experience delivering mining and bulk materials handling projects
• Strong technical background in conveyor and materials handling system design
• Experience with equipment such as conveyors, feeders, transfer chutes, bins, hoppers and stockpile systems
• Experience delivering mechanical packages from study through to detailed design and execution
• Previous experience within an EPCM or engineering consultancy environment highly regarded
• Sound knowledge of relevant Australian engineering standards and mining industry practices
• Strong multidisciplinary coordination and stakeholder management skills
