Project Manager | Commercial Construction
We’re recruiting for an established, family-owned construction business looking for a Project Manager with solid commercial building experience and a practical approach to delivery.
This role will suit someone who understands how a building comes together and can keep the programme, people and commercial requirements moving together. You’ll take responsibility for your projects, work closely with the site and commercial teams, and give clients clear, reliable communication throughout the build.
There’s room to make decisions and get on with the job, with experienced construction leadership to work through challenges alongside you. The team values people who plan ahead, raise issues early and follow through on what they say they’ll do.
What you’ll do
You’ll have a track record of managing commercial construction projects, with responsibility for programme, budget, subcontractor coordination and client relationships. We’re looking for someone who can explain the projects they’ve delivered, what they personally owned and how they handled the challenges along the way.
You’ll also bring:
The appeal is the combination of autonomy, experienced site and commercial support, and direct access to construction leadership. Your ability to organise work, build relationships and deliver on commitments will make a visible contribution.

What you’ll do
- Own the construction programme. Take the project through handover into delivery, establish realistic milestones and keep programmes current as site conditions, procurement and client requirements develop.
- Coordinate people and resources. Work with Site Managers to plan upcoming work, align subcontractors and materials, and identify resourcing gaps before they affect progress.
- Stay across the commercial position. Work alongside the QS on procurement, project costs and financial reporting. Understand where the budget is under pressure and address issues early.
- Manage client and consultant relationships. Lead project discussions, provide clear progress updates and make sure decisions, outstanding information and agreed actions are followed through.
- Maintain oversight of quality and safety. Support Site Managers to uphold project requirements, keep documentation current and resolve issues that need wider coordination or escalation.
- Keep delivery moving through to completion. Identify buildability and sequencing risks, coordinate practical solutions and maintain focus on finishing work properly, including defects and handover.

You’ll also bring:

- Commercial awareness. You can read project cost reports, recognise emerging overruns and work constructively with a QS to understand the impact of project decisions.
- Practical team leadership. You set clear expectations, support Site Managers and hold people accountable while maintaining good working relationships.
- Confident communication. You’re comfortable discussing progress, risks and decisions with clients, consultants, subcontractors and senior leadership.
- Sound planning and reporting habits. You keep programmes and project information useful, accurate and up to date, with enough forward visibility for the team to act.
- Personal ownership. You make decisions within your remit, know when to seek support and see issues through to resolution.
