This is a strong opportunity for a developing Site Manager who already has a solid grounding in commercial construction and is ready to step into more responsibility.
The Auckland team is currently busy delivering modular Ministry of Education projects, with classrooms being built off-site and then installed across live school environments. The current workload is heavily focused on education, but the wider direction is expected to broaden further into private and commercial projects as the Auckland operation continues to grow.
They are looking for someone who is still relatively early in their Site Management career but has enough commercial experience behind them to understand how a site should run.
Ideally, you will have around 4+ years’ commercial construction experience, with exposure across areas such as light commercial, retail, dealerships, education, industrial or similar project environments. Broader build experience is preferred over someone who has only worked in fit-out, although strong fit-out candidates with transferable site delivery experience could still be considered.
An LBP would be highly regarded, particularly given the practical nature of the role.
Day to day, you will be involved across subcontractor coordination, short-term planning, programme delivery, QA, H&S, materials, site meetings and communication with the wider project team. You will need to be comfortable keeping trades moving, identifying issues early and making sure the next stage of work is properly lined up.
Because of the modular environment, the role also requires someone who can work across both factory and live-site delivery. There are tight deadlines, multiple moving parts and a need for clear communication between the factory, site teams and wider project management team.
There will also be a FIFO travel component, with work across two locations in the Waikato and Gisborne. Travel costs will be covered by the business, so you will need to be comfortable being away from Auckland when projects require it.
This is not an overly corporate Site Management role. They want someone practical, proactive and comfortable getting close to the work. You should be the type of person who can step in, solve problems and keep things moving rather than waiting for someone else to make the call.
The role could suit a strong Foreman, Site Supervisor, Assistant Site Manager or developing Site Manager who is looking for a genuine next step and wants to continue building their commercial experience.
You do not need to be the finished article. What is more important is that you have a good commercial foundation, can communicate well, understand programme and site coordination, and have the attitude to keep developing.
There is good support around the role, but equally, they are looking for someone who wants ownership and is motivated to grow with the Auckland operation as the project mix expands.
If you have solid commercial site experience, enjoy being close to delivery and are comfortable with some FIFO travel, this is well worth a conversation.
