About the role
Reporting to the HR Manager, the Safety & Compliance Manager will lead the development and implementation of the organisation's national WHS, risk and compliance framework.
This is a highly visible role, requiring someone who can work closely with executives, senior leaders, managers and frontline teams to turn safety strategy into everyday behaviours and outcomes.
A key focus will be building leadership capability through national face-to-face training, coaching and engagement, supported by regular site visits, safety observations and operational reviews. You will challenge and influence leaders to take genuine ownership of safety within their teams while ensuring consistent standards across the organisation.
You will oversee WHS systems, risk assessments, incident investigations, audits, corrective actions, workers' compensation and return-to-work processes, while maintaining alignment with Australian legislation and the organisation's ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
You will also provide meaningful reporting and insights to senior leadership, identifying emerging risks, trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
About you
You are an experienced WHS, safety, risk or compliance professional who is equally comfortable developing strategy and getting onto the ground to make it happen.
You will bring strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and regulatory frameworks, together with a proven ability to influence leadership behaviour and drive cultural change across diverse workforces.
Your strength will be your ability to engage people at all levels. You can coach a senior manager, challenge an operational leader and connect with frontline employees in a way that creates ownership rather than simply compliance.
Strong communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills are essential, as is the ability to analyse safety performance and translate information into practical action.
A tertiary qualification in WHS, Risk Management or a related discipline is preferred, along with experience working across multiple sites or locations.
National travel will be required.
