Summary: Nesco Resource is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Coating Technician to join a leading precision optics manufacturer in West Henrietta, NY. This temp-to-perm opportunity is ideal for candidates with manufacturing, optics, photonics, or coating experience who enjoy working in a cleanroom environment. The Coating Technician will support the application of thin-film coatings to precision optical components while ensuring exceptional product quality, productivity, and on-time delivery.
Pay Rate:
- $21.00 - $24.00/Hour 10% Shift Differential
Shift(s):
- B Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Job Duties:
- Operate vacuum coating equipment to apply thin-film coatings to lenses, prisms, and other optical components
- Meet daily production goals while maintaining quality and productivity standards
- Inspect coated components and identify quality concerns or non-conforming materials
- Tag and document non-conforming products for Quality inspection
- Learn and perform basic vacuum chamber maintenance and preventative cleaning
- Operate manual coating platforms and related manufacturing equipment
- Utilize production tracking and testing software to document manufacturing activities
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to resolve manufacturing issues
- Escalate production, safety, or quality concerns to leadership promptly
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant cleanroom work environment
- Follow all company safety procedures, work instructions, and PPE requirements
- Support additional production activities as assigned
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1–2 years of optical coating experience or 2 years of experience in optics, photonics, or precision manufacturing preferred
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn manufacturing software
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to perform repetitive, detail-oriented tasks with consistency
- Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to read and follow written work instructions
- Willingness to work scheduled overtime as production demands require
- Must be eligible to work in an ITAR-regulated manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Cleanroom manufacturing environment supporting precision optical production
- Frequent standing or sitting for extended periods throughout the shift
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 45 lbs. occasionally
- Frequent repetitive hand movements requiring fine manual dexterity
- Exposure to vacuum coating equipment and precision manufacturing processes
- Must maintain strict cleanliness standards and follow all PPE and safety requirements
