LOCATION: Amsterdam, NY (Fully onsite)
SCHEDULE: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
SALARY: $100-130K
Some service departments need a manager.
Others need someone who can see the whole picture, figure out where things are getting stuck, and jump in to fix it.
We’re looking for the second kind.
Our client is a growing manufacturer of specialized industrial equipment looking for a hands-on Service Manager to take ownership of a multifaceted service operation. This person will oversee field service, parts, and installation coordination—and needs to be comfortable stepping into any of those areas when a customer, employee, or job needs help.
This is not a “stay in your lane” kind of role. It’s an opportunity for someone who understands how service, parts, installations, engineering, and operations all connect and enjoys making the entire operation work better.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
• Lead and develop the service operation, including field service, parts, and installation coordination
• Oversee the Field Service Manager, Parts Coordinator, parts/shipping function, and Installation Coordinator
• Jump in to troubleshoot problems and keep jobs moving when issues cross departmental lines
• Handle escalated customer issues and provide technical guidance when needed
• Identify gaps between service, parts, installation, engineering, and operations and build better processes
• Develop procedures, performance metrics, and accountability measures
• Work alongside engineering and operations to solve technical and workflow issues
• Support installations or parts needs when necessary to stay connected to the operation
• Continually look for practical ways to improve the department and customer experience
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
• 5+ years of management/leadership experience
• 7+ years in service operations, technical service, industrial equipment, project management, customer support management, or a related environment
• Strong technical aptitude—mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, or industrial equipment experience is valuable
• Someone who can manage people while also understanding the equipment and service issues they’re dealing with
• Experience building or improving processes and workflows
• Comfortable handling customers, including escalated or frustrated customers
• ERP/CRM/service ticketing experience
WHO MIGHT FIT?
Maybe you started as a field technician and worked your way into service or branch management.
Maybe you’ve managed a service operation for an industrial equipment company.
Maybe you’re the person everyone calls when something goes wrong—and you’ve developed the leadership background to go along with the technical knowledge.
The experience can vary. What matters is that you know how to lead people, understand the technical side, and make a complicated operation run better.
BENEFITS:
• Medical, dental and vision
• Company-paid $50K life insurance
• Company-paid long-term disability
• 401(k) with up to 4.5% company match
• Annual performance bonus opportunity
• Referral bonus
If you’re a technically minded manager who likes solving problems, developing people, and making an operation better—not just maintaining it—this could be a really interesting opportunity.
