Crop Protection Officer

Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) is responsible for planning, investing, and overseeing research, development, and extension for the grains sector in Australia. They meet the evolving needs of grain growers with a vision to be regarded as the grower’s “RD&E department.” GRDC believes it should be a valued grower asset that is open, transparent, and trusted - a research partner who seeks to be agile and business like in their operations and improve productivity and profitability for growers.

GRDC is seeking a Crop Protection Officer to assist the senior manager and business group develop technically appropriate investment projects, aligning with GRDC’s purpose.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Crop protection, you will provide the project and administrative support on contract management the business group requires across their projects.

Working closely with the crop protection team you will be floating across the group, learning and developing your skills in the role.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have:

• Experience in the agricultural sector.
• Some project management, with familiarity working across research and development.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Organisational skills, able to multitask.
• Qualifications in science, agricultural science or equivalent.
• The ability to fit into and work closely with the team is key.

The role is an entry point into the GRDC environment with career development pathways available in the future.

There is some travel, some out of hour’s work required, a valid driver’s licence and Australian citizenship is required. The working arrangement is a hybrid WFH and office. Training is provided and encouraged to continue to develop your professional development skills.
