Senior Safety Advisor

We are seeking an experienced Senior Safety Advisor to support the successful delivery of major operational and project activities within a leading mining and resources environment. This role is responsible for providing expert health, safety and risk management advice, ensuring compliance with legislative and company requirements, and driving a proactive safety culture across site and project teams.

The successful candidate will work closely with operational leaders, contractors, project personnel and stakeholders to identify risks, implement preventative measures and continuously improve safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-level safety leadership and guidance to operational and project teams.
• Promote and maintain a positive safety culture aligned with company values.
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits, hazard identification and risk assessments.
• Facilitate incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented.
• Support the development, review and implementation of safety management plans, procedures and systems.
• Monitor compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and company standards.
• Deliver safety training, coaching and awareness programs.
• Assist leaders in developing risk controls and safe systems of work.
• Analyse safety performance data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Participate in contractor management and verification activities.
• Support emergency preparedness and response initiatives.
• Foster strong working relationships across operations, maintenance and project teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.
• Cert IV in Work Health & Safety (minimum).
• Demonstrated experience in a Senior Safety Advisor or similar role within mining, resources, heavy industry or major projects.
• Strong understanding of WA Work Health and Safety legislation.
• Proven experience conducting investigations, audits and risk assessments.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Strong report writing and communication abilities.
• Current Driver's Licence.

Desired Experience

• Mining, mineral sands, processing plant or heavy industrial experience.
• Prior EPCM or client side project delivery experience required.
• ICAM or equivalent incident investigation training.
• Auditor qualifications and experience.
