Senior LLM – LangGraph Engineer

Employment Type: 12-Month Renewable Contract

Role Level: Senior Individual Contributor

Sector: Enterprise Retail

Role Overview

Our enterprise retail client is accelerating its AI transformation by moving flagship agentic workflows from prototype phase into full-scale production. We are seeking a Senior LLM – LangGraph Engineer to join the AI Lab on a 12-month renewable contract.

In this hands-on, engineering-focused role, you will take direct ownership of designing, building, hardening, and deploying production-ready Agentic AI applications. You will serve as the technical subject matter expert in LangGraph, translating business requirements into reliable, stateful multi-agent systems built for enterprise retail scale.

While primarily an individual contributor role, you will play a key part in raising engineering standards across the team through sound architectural choices, technical judgment, and peer code reviews.

Core Responsibilities

  • LangGraph Agentic Architecture: Own the full lifecycle design and implementation of multi-step, stateful agentic workflows using LangGraph (including state graphs, multi-agent coordination, execution loops, retries, and human-in-the-loop patterns).

  • Production Hardening: Transition prototypes into production-grade systems by actively managing reliability, low latency, token usage, execution cost, output deterministic constraints, and failure handling.

  • System & API Integration: Connect backend agent systems with APIs, enterprise databases, retail data platforms, and user interfaces.

  • LLMOps & Evaluation: Establish evaluation frameworks, prompt/version management, unit testing, telemetry, and real-time observability to continuously monitor agent performance in live environments.

  • End-to-End Delivery: Take end-to-end technical ownership of complex use cases with limited supervision, identifying architectural trade-offs and technical risks early in the development cycle.

  • Collaboration & Engineering Excellence: Partner with Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and Product teams to deliver tangible business value while setting high standards for clean, maintainable Python code.

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements

Must-Have Requirements

  1. LangGraph Mastery: Deep, practical experience designing and building agentic workflows using LangGraph. You must understand stateful execution, complex routing, tool-calling loops, and context management at an expert level.

  2. Production-Level AI Experience: Proven track record of taking LLM/GenAI applications beyond Proof-of-Concept (PoC) into live, mission-critical production environments.

  3. Core Software Engineering: Strong background in production-grade Python, API design (RESTful/gRPC), application architecture, and modern software engineering best practices.

  4. RAG & Retrieval: Hands-on experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector search engines, embeddings, structured data extraction, and context window optimization.

  5. LLMOps Depth: Experience with LLM evaluation, observability tools, prompt versioning, testing, and production monitoring.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)

  • UI & Frontend Integration: Experience connecting backend agent orchestration to frontend user interfaces (Web/App), including hands-on troubleshooting and end-to-end debugging across API and UI layers.

  • Retail / Enterprise Context: Prior exposure to retail systems, e-commerce backend pipelines, or enterprise customer engagement platforms.

Seniority & Behavioral Expectations

  • Self-Directed Ownership: Ability to take vague business or product goals and translate them into robust, executable technical architectures with minimal supervision.

  • Pragmatic Architectural Judgment: Ability to determine when complex multi-agent patterns are required versus when simpler, deterministic software patterns are better suited.

  • Code Quality & Mentorship: Willingness to conduct rigorous code reviews, share best practices, and elevate the overall technical output of the wider AI team.
