About the role:
We’re searching for an experienced RF Engineer to join a highly technical communications environment supporting critical P25 radio networks across Victorian Metropolitan Mobile Radio (MMR) and Regional Mobile Radio (RMR) networks.
This role will provide specialist RF technical expertise across the operations, maintenance, engineering and upgrade of complex radio systems, microwave links and associated telecommunications infrastructure. You will act as a key technical escalation point for Network Operations and Field Engineering teams, providing high-level technical support and troubleshooting across critical communications infrastructure.
This opportunity is particularly suited to an RF Engineer with strong experience across Land Mobile Radio (LMR), RF propagation, coverage prediction and measurement, with an understanding of how radio, microwave, network and telecommunications systems operate together.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide technical support and maintenance across critical P25 radio networks throughout Victoria.
- Act as the RF SME, supporting RF coverage, propagation, microwave links and network performance.
- Investigate and troubleshoot complex RF and communications issues, providing technical escalation to NOC and Field Engineering teams.
- Support network testing, integration, upgrades and ongoing improvements across radio and transmission infrastructure.
- Conduct RF measurements, coverage analysis and propagation modelling to ensure network performance and reliability.
- Design RF site configurations, applying deep technical knowledge of antenna systems, propagation characteristics and site-specific nuances to deliver optimal network performance.
- Conduct site surveys and spectrum analysis using industry-standard survey tools and spectrum analysers to assess RF conditions and identify potential interference.
- Perform coverage prediction, modelling and calculations to inform network design and validate performance against real-world survey measurements.
- Prepare clear, detailed technical reports and documentation covering RF surveys, network performance, and design recommendations for internal and customer stakeholders.
- Support core network infrastructure including firewalls, routers, switches, microwave links, and physical/virtual servers, both remotely and onsite.
- Develop and maintain as-built documentation, change and problem management procedures, and test protocols to support routine system maintenance.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
- Full Australian working rights
- Tertiary Engineering qualification or strong equivalent industry experience.
- Extensive telecommunications experience, with a strong background in RF, LMR/P25 and microwave transmission propagation.
- Experience with RF coverage prediction, propagation modelling and real-world RF measurements.
- Strong understanding of radio network performance, transmission links and associated infrastructure.
- Experience using RF survey tools and spectrum test equipment, with knowledge of TSB-88 highly regarded.
- Strong report writing and documentation skills.
- Australian driver’s licence, willingness to travel to remote sites and participate in a 24x7 on-call roster.
