Operating a purpose-built training facility, our client plays a vital role in developing apprentices, tradespeople and industry professionals across the energy, rail and major infrastructure sectors. Supporting training in power distribution, transmission and other critical industries, they are committed to maintaining a safe, compliant and industry-leading learning environment. Due to continued growth and operational requirements, an opportunity has become available for a High Voltage Safety & Compliance Coordinator to join their team at their Chadstone facility.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced electrical professional to take ownership of safety, compliance and operational readiness across a specialised high-voltage training environment.
Working closely with trainers, contractors, industry stakeholders and safety teams, you will coordinate electrical safety systems, permits, inspections and maintenance activities while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards.
In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the safe operation, maintenance and compliance of high-voltage and electrical training assets, helping to create a safe and effective environment for staff, students, apprentices and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate the safe operation and use of high voltage and electrical training assets.
• Administer and maintain permit-to-work systems, including Electrical Access Permits and excavation permits.
• Maintain safety documentation including authorisations, competency records, inductions and compliance registers.
• Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance activities across training infrastructure.
• Manage inspections and ensure corrective actions and remediation works are completed.
• Support ongoing compliance with Victorian electrical safety legislation, regulations and industry requirements.
• Facilitate contractor and visitor inductions and ensure site compliance requirements are met.
• Work collaboratively with trainers, operational teams and industry stakeholders to identify and manage risk.
• Assist with the development, implementation and continuous improvement of safety management systems.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, contractors and industry partners as required.
• Support a safe learning environment for apprentices, students, staff and visitors.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Experience within electrical, utilities, infrastructure, energy or other high-risk operational environments.
• Sound knowledge of electrical safety legislation, compliance requirements and safe work practices.
• Experience managing permit systems, safety procedures and compliance documentation.
• Knowledge of high voltage operations, switching, isolation procedures and access permit requirements.
• Experience coordinating maintenance activities, inspections and risk management processes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Excellent organisational, communication and record-keeping abilities.
• A proactive and collaborative approach to safety and compliance.

Essential Requirements

• Current ESI licence, electrical trade qualification or equivalent recognised qualification relevant to the role.
• Demonstrated experience in electrical safety and compliance environments.
• Strong knowledge of permit-to-work systems and safety management processes.
• Valid Victorian Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one prior to commencement.
• Full Australian working rights.

Desirable

• Current or previous High Voltage Authorisation.
• Experience within electricity distribution, transmission, rail, utilities or training environments.
• Experience working with Energy Safe Victoria requirements or similar regulatory frameworks.
