Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced policy professional who enjoys tackling complex regulatory challenges and leading work programmes from concept through to implementation. You'll develop evidence-based policy advice, support regulatory change initiatives and work alongside technical experts, legal advisors and stakeholders to shape future-focused regulatory outcomes. The role offers a balance of strategic thinking, policy development, stakeholder engagement and project leadership within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Ngā kawenga | Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of high-quality regulatory policy advice
- Analyse complex issues and develop robust policy options and recommendations
- Support the design, review and implementation of regulatory changes
- Prepare briefings and advice for senior leaders and decision-makers
- Lead or contribute to consultation and stakeholder engagement activities
- Develop discussion papers and consultation materials
- Work collaboratively with technical, legal and operational subject matter experts
- Manage policy projects, risks, milestones and delivery outcomes

- Proven experience developing policy within a regulatory, legislative or government environment
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving capability
- Demonstrated experience providing advice and briefings to senior decision-makers
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex issues clearly
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
- Experience leading policy projects and contributing to a collaborative team environment
