An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Laboratory Technician to join a well-established manufacturing business. Working within a busy operations team, you will be responsible for carrying out laboratory testing, quality control and product verification, ensuring products meet specification, regulatory requirements and customer expectations.
This is a hands-on laboratory role requiring a strong understanding of analytical testing, quality management systems and laboratory best practice.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out laboratory testing and analysis on raw materials, work in progress and finished products.
Record, interpret and verify test results against product specifications.
Perform quality control checks in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.
Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, arranging repairs where required.
Develop, validate and maintain analytical testing methods.
Prepare technical documentation, including product certification and supporting compliance records.
Produce and maintain Safety Data Sheets and other regulatory documentation.
Ensure laboratory equipment, reference materials and consumables are adequately stocked.
Support compliance with ISO quality management systems and laboratory procedures.
Assist with internal audits, quality investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Review production records and authorise product release where appropriate.
Maintain accurate laboratory records and testing documentation.
Work closely with production, operations and other internal departments to resolve technical and quality-related issues.
Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with Health & Safety procedures.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe laboratory environment.
Support continuous improvement across laboratory processes and testing methods.
Carry out general laboratory administration duties as required.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
A degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
Previous experience within an analytical laboratory, quality control or manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of laboratory testing techniques and analytical instrumentation.
Experience maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment.
Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Good communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
Confidence interpreting technical data and making quality-related decisions.
Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and experience using business systems or ERP software.
The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Experience
Experience working within an ISO 9001 environment.
Knowledge of ISO 17025 standards.
Experience developing or validating analytical methods.
Understanding of regulatory documentation and Safety Data Sheets.
Experience within a manufacturing or industrial laboratory environment.
