This position is suited to someone who can manage shipment activity end to end, provide a high standard of customer service, and keep import operations running smoothly in a fast-paced forwarding environment.

The Role
The successful candidate will oversee import shipments and act as a key contact for customers throughout the shipment lifecycle. The role includes coordinating documentation, managing bookings and transport activity, resolving service issues, maintaining compliance, and supporting commercial outcomes through accurate execution and strong client engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate import documentation accurately and within required timeframes, ensuring compliance with customer and destination requirements.
  • Arrange bookings with carriers and co-loaders and prepare all relevant shipping documentation.
  • Create and manage transport orders, monitor shipment progress and follow up on key milestones within the import process.
  • Identify supplier performance issues and contribute practical solutions to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a primary contact for customers, responding to enquiries, handling requests and assisting with issue resolution.
  • Provide proactive updates to customers regarding shipment progress, delays or operational exceptions.
  • Manage daily import-related transactional and operational tasks to support smooth workflow across the team.
 
 About You
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in ocean freight, shipping or international freight forwarding, ideally within import operations.
  • Experience with CargoWise will be highly regarded.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-first approach.
  • Ability to work with urgency, stay organised and manage competing priorities.
  • A positive, team-oriented mindset with a focus on outcomes and service quality.
