Position Summary
As a Compounding Pharmacy Technician, you will prepare customized non-sterile medications according to physician and veterinary prescriptions while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong math skills, and the ability to follow established procedures with precision.
Key Responsibilities
- Compound non-sterile medications including capsules, oral liquids, topical medications, tablets, nasal preparations, and medicated treats
- Accurately measure, mix, package, and label prescriptions according to established protocols
- Maintain inventory by monitoring stock levels, receiving supplies, and identifying expiring materials
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitization of work areas using approved procedures and disinfectants
- Complete environmental monitoring and quality control activities in accordance with company policies
- Meet production goals while maintaining exceptional quality standards
- Follow all pharmacy regulations, safety procedures, and documentation requirements
- Collaborate with team members to ensure prescriptions are completed accurately and on schedule
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with an active Arizona State Board of Pharmacy Technician license required
- Strong basic math and measurement skills
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and standardized processes
- Experience working in a fast-paced production or pharmacy environment preferred
- Reliable attendance and a professional, team-oriented attitude
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for the duration of the work shift
- Ability to routinely lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including passing respirator fit testing
- Comfortable working with pharmaceutical ingredients and following established safety protocols
