We are seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of critical municipal electrical systems that support our community every day. This leadership role is responsible for supervising electrical personnel and contractors while ensuring the reliable operation of lift stations, storm pumping stations, SCADA telemetry systems, traffic control equipment, street lighting, generators, and municipal building electrical systems.
This position offers the opportunity to combine hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities in a dynamic public works environment.
What You'll Do
- Team Leadership & Operations
- Lead, assign, direct, and supervise Electrical Bureau personnel and outside contractors.
- Schedule and coordinate preventive maintenance and repair activities utilizing established maintenance programs and work order systems.
- Train, mentor, evaluate, and develop team members.
- Coordinate vendor activities and review invoices for accuracy and payment processing.
Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain:
- Electrical motor control systems
- Lift stations and storm pumping stations
- SCADA telemetry systems
- Traffic signal control systems
- Street lighting systems
- Municipal building electrical systems
- Perform preventive maintenance on generators, automatic transfer switches (ATS), motors, and associated equipment.
- Work safely with electrical control systems operating up to 480 volts.
- Troubleshoot and maintain variable frequency drives (VFDs), submersible pumps, transducers, and level control systems.
Traffic & Infrastructure Systems
- Install, test, and maintain traffic control equipment, including signal cabinets and control systems.
- Repair electrical conduit, wiring, ballasts, poles, and related street lighting infrastructure.
- Maintain system schematics, blueprints, control diagrams, and technical documentation.
Planning & Administration
- Assist with departmental budget preparation and expenditure monitoring.
- Maintain maintenance records, inventory, and material usage reports.
- Utilize computerized maintenance and asset management systems, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Support planning, design, installation, and analysis of electrical infrastructure projects.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Electrical trade school or vocational training.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience as a licensed Journeyman Electrician.
- At least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Valid Florida Class E Driver License.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Electrical motor controls
- Pump systems
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- SCADA and telemetry systems
- Generators and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
- Traffic signal control systems
- Preventive maintenance programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Palm Beach County or State of Florida Journeyman Electrician License.
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Experience with municipal infrastructure, water/wastewater systems, or public utilities.

Additional Information
This position requires emergency response situations and may be called upon before, during, and after severe weather events, including tropical storms and hurricanes. The successful candidate must be able to respond effectively to emergency operational needs and support continuity of essential municipal services.
