About the Company
Design & Build is partnering with a leading Australian engineering and building services contractor to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing Melbourne team.
Our client has built an outstanding reputation for delivering complex electrical solutions across critical infrastructure environments, including data centres, healthcare, defence, utilities and other mission-critical facilities. Due to continued project wins and a strong pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint an Electrical Design Engineer with approximately 4-5 years of relevant experience.
 
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to join a technically strong team where you'll be involved in the design and delivery of complex electrical systems from concept through to construction support and commissioning.
Working alongside experienced engineers and project delivery teams, you'll contribute to high-profile projects where reliability, resilience and technical excellence are essential.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Produce electrical designs for critical infrastructure and building services projects.
• Design LV power distribution, switchboards, lighting, earthing and associated electrical systems.
• Assist with HV infrastructure interfaces where required.
• Prepare design calculations, technical reports, specifications and engineering documentation.
• Develop single line diagrams, schematics and electrical layouts.
• Coordinate with mechanical, hydraulic, fire and communications disciplines.
• Provide technical support during procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Attend design coordination meetings with internal stakeholders, clients and consultants.
• Ensure designs comply with Australian Standards, NCC and relevant industry regulations.
• Support value engineering initiatives and continuous design improvements.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

• Degree qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
• Approximately 4-5 years' experience within electrical building services or critical infrastructure.
• Experience delivering electrical designs for one or more of the following:
  • Data Centres
  • Healthcare
  • Defence
  • Utilities
  • Mission Critical Facilities
• Strong understanding of:
  • LV electrical distribution
  • UPS systems
  • Standby generators
  • Emergency power systems
  • Power system resilience and redundancy
• Experience using AutoCAD and Revit, with exposure to power system modelling software considered advantageous.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
