Job Overview:
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading the execution of complex engineered-to-order (ETO) centrifugal compressor and packaged equipment projects from order receipt through customer acceptance and project closeout. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers and is accountable for project safety, quality, schedule, profitability, cash flow, contract compliance, and customer satisfaction. The Senior Project Manager leads cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, document control, logistics, field service, finance, and commercial operations to ensure successful project execution and business results.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Execution:
- Lead multiple complex ETO centrifugal compressor projects simultaneously.
- Develop and manage project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Drive adherence to project milestones, delivery commitments, and customer requirements.
- Identify and mitigate project risks while leading recovery plans when required.
- Provide accurate project forecasting, reporting, and executive-level updates.
- Customer and Commercial Leadership
- Serve as the primary customer interface throughout project execution.
- Build strong customer relationships through proactive communication and issue resolution.
- Manage contract requirements, scope changes, and project risks.
- Lead change order identification, development, and commercialization efforts.
- Preserve contractual entitlement related to customer-caused delays, scope growth, and schedule impacts.
- Financial and Operational Ownership
- Own project financial performance including revenue, margin, forecasting, and cost control.
- Drive booked-versus-shipped margin improvement initiatives.
- Support milestone billing, cash collection, and working capital objectives.
- Monitor project performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed.
Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Lead globally distributed project teams across engineering, operations, sourcing, quality, and service organizations.
- Coordinate engineering releases, procurement activities, manufacturing schedules, testing, documentation, and shipment readiness.
- Facilitate decision-making and drive accountability without direct authority.
- Mentor project managers, project engineers, and project support personnel.
- Continuous Improvement and Digital Enablement
- Champion project management best practices and governance processes.
- Utilize digital project management tools, analytics, and AI-enabled solutions to improve execution efficiency and reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance customer experience, project delivery, and profitability.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or related field.
- 8+ years of project management experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or engineered-to-order environment.
Preferred:
- PMP Certification.
- Strong knowledge of project planning, risk management, financial management, and contract administration.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
- Master's Degree (MBA or Engineering).
- Experience with centrifugal compressors, rotating equipment, turbomachinery, oil & gas, process industries, or large industrial equipment.
- Experience with global project execution and multi-site engineering teams.
- Lean Six Sigma certification or continuous improvement experience.
- Demonstrated success managing complex, customer-facing capital equipment projects.
