Health & Safety Manager

Are you an experienced Health & Safety Manager with a strong manufacturing background and the leadership skills to take full ownership of Health & Safety across a busy site?

Our client, a well-established manufacturing organisation in East Cork, is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead the site H&S function.

This is a standalone H&S leadership role, with responsibility for the full Health & Safety function across the plant. You will work closely with senior management, Production, Engineering, Quality and other key departments to drive a strong safety culture, compliance and continuous improvement across the organisation.

What you will be doing:

• Lead and own the site Health & Safety strategy, policies, procedures and improvement programmes.
• Develop and maintain robust Safety Management Systems, ensuring compliance with legislation and industry best practice.
• Take a proactive leadership role in developing a strong safety culture and safety ownership across all levels of the organisation.
• Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality and other departments to identify risks and implement practical improvements.
• Monitor H&S performance through KPIs, incident reporting, trend analysis and action plans.
• Lead the investigation of incidents and ensure effective corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
• Regularly review and update Risk Assessments, Safety Statements, SOPs and safe systems of work.
• Develop and deliver H&S training, employee inductions and awareness programmes.
• Identify training requirements arising from legislation, operational changes and site activities.
• Provide H&S reports, metrics and recommendations to the management team.
• Ensure effective H&S documentation, record keeping and document control.
• Promote lessons learned, best practice and continuous improvement across the site.
• Work with the site Health & Safety Committee and key stakeholders to drive improvements in safety performance.
• Act as a visible H&S leader, influencing and challenging at all levels to ensure safety standards are maintained.

What we are looking for:

• A third-level qualification in Health & Safety or a related discipline.
• 7+ years’ experience in Health & Safety, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
• Manufacturing experience is essential.
• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and practical risk management.
• Proven experience developing and implementing Safety Management Systems.
• Strong knowledge and experience of ISO 45001, including implementation and auditing.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and gain buy-in across different departments.
• Experience leading H&S programmes and delivering measurable improvements.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to challenge unsafe practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
• A proactive, practical approach with the ability to work independently and take full ownership of the H&S function.
