ABOUT THE ROLE
Working within the Contract Logistics team, our client wants to add a Trader's Assistant. A position that demands experience working with a direct Importer or International Freight Forwarding with an import focus. Working closely with an Import Trader, working on a portfolio of accounts with a national import profile. The role is the connection point between the trader, international suppliers, overseas agents, shipping lines and local freight forwarders. This is a hands-on role with a strong operational element.
DUTIES
• Coordinate around 35-45 FCL Imports weekly across Australian ports
• Ensure all import compliance is maintained to ensure minimal delays
• Liaise directly with international suppliers, overseas agents, shipping lines and local freight forwarders to ensure orders are managed
• Maintain and update shipment status reports
• Work in a team of 5 to ensure all processes and procedures are uniform
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• 3-5 years experience in a logistics-based direct Importer or Freight Forwarding role
• Strong understanding of the Import FCL process
• Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain supplier and local vendor relationships
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage a high-volume, fast-paced environment
• Strong computer literacy (CW1, Excel/Word/PowerPoint)
