Overview
Seeking a skilled Senior Accountant to backfill an essential team member going on parental leave, with a focus on supporting year-end closing activities and financial statement preparation. You will be responsible for managing core accounting processes, supporting SOX compliance, and working closely with internal and external auditors. This position offers flexibility with a preferred three-day in-office schedule in Novato, California, from mid-November through mid-June, providing a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in a collaborative environment.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in monthly and quarterly close processes, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Experience preparing monthly reconciliations within a SOX-compliant environment
- Hands-on expertise with Oracle R12 (Oracle EBS is a plus)
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles
- Ability to analyze and review contracts and transactional impacts
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
- Experience supporting external audits and maintaining audit documentation
Nice to Have Skills
- Industry experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals
- Familiarity with Oracle EBS systems
- Experience with FASB ASC accounting standards
- Background in contract review and analysis
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA certification is highly valued
- Public accounting audit experience is a plus
- Prior experience supporting financial close processes and internal controls in a regulated environment

- This role is primarily on-site in Novato, CA, with flexibility to work 2-3 days per week
- Commitment to meeting deadlines within a fast-paced environment
- Support SOX compliance initiatives and participate in internal control testing
- Ability to adapt and improve accounting processes as needed
