Senior QS / Commercial Manager

FRS Recruitment are working with a well-established civil engineering contractor to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager for their commercial team based in County Laois.

The successful candidate will take a senior role in the commercial management of a broad portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the Midlands. The position will involve working closely with senior management, project teams, government bodies, local authorities, consultants and other key stakeholders.

You will take responsibility for the financial and contractual performance of projects from pre-construction through to final account, while supporting the continued development of the wider commercial team.

Projects will include public realm developments, road improvement schemes, utility infrastructure, drainage works, earthworks, groundworks and commercial developments.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager seeking a long-term position with a growing contractor offering a strong pipeline of infrastructure works and genuine career progression.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial delivery across multiple civil engineering projects.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, payments and contractual documentation.
• Prepare and agree valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Monitor project budgets, forecasts and overall commercial performance.
• Produce CVRs, cost reports and senior management updates.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities across project lifecycles.
• Mentor and support junior members of the commercial team.
• Liaise with clients, councils and government-appointed stakeholders.

Requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or related discipline.
• Seven years’ post-graduate Quantity Surveying experience is preferred.
• Civil engineering or infrastructure experience within Ireland or UK.
• Strong knowledge of valuations, CVRs and final accounts.
• Excellent understanding of construction contracts and commercial procedures.
• Strong commercial, negotiation and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Chartered status or progress towards chartership is highly desirable.
• Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers will be considered.
