Lead an established team of OD and capability specialists within a large, diverse and complex organisation undergoing significant change.
We are partnering confidentially with a large and diverse organisation based in Logan to appoint an experienced Manager – Organisational Development.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an accomplished Organisational Development practitioner who brings both deep OD expertise and demonstrated experience leading experienced specialist teams.
Operating within a large, multifaceted environment, you will lead an established team responsible for organisational development, leadership and capability, learning and talent pathways. Working closely with senior and executive leaders, you will translate organisational strategy into practical people and capability initiatives that can be successfully delivered and embedded across the organisation.
This is not simply an L&D, HR generalist or standalone change role.
We are looking for someone who has built their career within Organisational Development and can bring the professional credibility, leadership maturity and practical judgement required to lead an experienced team and operate effectively across a complex organisation.
The opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager of People & Culture, you will provide leadership and strategic direction across the organisation's OD and capability portfolio.
The organisation is continuing to evolve its people and organisational capability, and there is a genuine opportunity for the successful person to shape how OD supports the business into the future.
A key part of the role will be understanding the organisation's current level of maturity and ensuring initiatives are practical, appropriately paced and capable of being embedded.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading and developing an established team of experienced OD, leadership, learning and capability specialists.
- Providing subject matter expertise and strategic leadership across the Organisational Development portfolio.
- Partnering with senior and executive leaders to identify organisational and workforce capability priorities.
- Leading the design and implementation of enterprise-wide OD initiatives across areas including organisational capability, leadership, culture, talent, workforce development and organisational effectiveness.
- Translating broader organisational strategy and transformation priorities into practical people initiatives and measurable outcomes.
- Establishing clear priorities across a broad portfolio and ensuring the team remains focused on initiatives that deliver the greatest organisational value.
- Building stakeholder ownership and successfully embedding initiatives across a large and diverse workforce.
- Using evidence, data and organisational insights to inform priorities and measure impact.
- Continuing to build the credibility, capability and impact of the OD function across the organisation.
About you
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to demonstrate:
A relevant tertiary qualification in Organisational Development, Organisational Psychology/Psychology, Human Resources or a closely related discipline.
Substantial career experience in Organisational Development, with demonstrated breadth across enterprise OD rather than experience limited primarily to learning delivery, HR generalist work or standalone change management.
Demonstrated experience operating within a large, complex organisation, ideally supporting a workforce of 1,000+ employees across multiple functions, business units or operational environments.
Strong and recent people leadership experience, including responsibility for leading, developing and setting direction for experienced OD and/or capability specialists.
You will also bring:
- Strong executive and senior stakeholder influencing capability.
- Experience developing and implementing enterprise-wide OD, capability, leadership, culture or workforce initiatives.
- The judgement to balance contemporary OD thinking with what an organisation is ready and able to successfully implement.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise competing initiatives and translate strategy into practical delivery.
- Strong commercial and organisational acumen.
- Confidence operating within environments with significant governance, stakeholder complexity and approval processes.
- A collaborative but decisive leadership style, with the ability to challenge thinking, establish clear direction and hold people accountable for delivery.
Sector background is less important than organisational complexity. We are particularly interested in candidates who have operated within large, diverse and highly governed organisations, where successful delivery requires navigating multiple stakeholder groups, competing priorities and established governance and approval processes.
