ABOUT THE TEAM & WORKPLACE
Whangārei Hospital is the main surgical centre for Northland, with eight operating theatres, a procedure room, and a two-room endoscopy suite. It delivers a wide range of surgical sub-specialties and all emergency surgery for the region, offering a varied and complex case mix.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
The Department of Anaesthesia is the largest within the Surgical Service, providing 24/7 anaesthetic care at Whangārei Hospital and elective services at Kaitaia Hospital. As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will deliver safe, high-quality anaesthesia and perioperative care, including support for trauma and emergency cases.
You’ll join a team of around 30 Specialist Anaesthetists, working alongside trainees, anaesthetic technicians, and other health professionals. The role also includes opportunities for teaching and supervision of junior doctors and medical students.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BRING
To be considered you must have or be eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in an Anaesthesia Vocational scope of practice.
