HARKE has partnered with a well-established independent school in Darwin seeking an experienced English leader to step into the position of English Learning Area Coordinator – Years 6–12.

This is an opportunity for a strong classroom practitioner to influence the strategic direction of English across the secondary years while remaining connected to teaching. The successful applicant will lead curriculum development, assessment, teaching practice and faculty development, with a clear focus on high-quality learning and positive student outcomes.

The position leads and manages English curriculum across Years 6–12, including curriculum documentation, teaching and learning practice, assessment, student pathways and faculty leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead contemporary English curriculum and teaching practice across Years 6–12.
  • Support consistent assessment, moderation and analysis of student achievement.
  • Lead, support and develop English faculty staff through collaboration, feedback and professional learning.
  • Strengthen curriculum pathways and engaging learning experiences for students.
  • Use research and student data to evaluate and improve teaching programs.
  • Contribute to broader school teaching and learning priorities.

What Is Offered

  • Permanent full-time teaching position.
  • Two-year leadership appointment as English Learning Area Coordinator.
  • Additional PAR allowance of $12,678 gross per annum, increasing to $13,224 from July 2027.
  • 180 minutes leadership release.
  • Salary range of approximately $95,551 – $137,031 gross per annum increasing from July 2027*

  • NT Teacher Registration or eligibility to obtain registration.
