Salary will be basic - €45,000 may involve evening shift (16% Evening Shift Allowance if applicable )healthcare cover.
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our Quality team in a high-precision medical device manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that all products / processes meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and company quality standards.
Working closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams, you will perform in-process, first article, and final inspections using a range of precision measuring equipment. You will help identify quality issues, support investigations, and contribute to the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, precision engineering environment where quality is critical to patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of machined medical device components.
- Verify products comply with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
- Use precision measuring equipment including:
- Digital Verniers
- Micrometers
- Height Gauges
- Bore Gauges
- Thread Gauges
- Pin Gauges
- Optical Comparators
- Vision Measurement Systems (where applicable)
- Record inspection results accurately within electronic quality systems and manufacturing documentation.
- Raise and document non-conformances when defects are identified.
- Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities as required.
- Assist with root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Ensure traceability and documentation are maintained in accordance with Quality Management System requirements.
- Support process validations, First Article Inspection (FAI), and product launches.
- Maintain inspection equipment and ensure calibration requirements are met.
- Work closely with Manufacturing and Engineering to promote a culture of Right First Time quality.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve product quality and inspection efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised inspection area.
Essential Requirements
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent, with a technical qualification in Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, or a related discipline preferred.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a Quality Inspection role within a precision manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Understanding of GD&T principles.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Strong organisational and documentation skills.
- Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience within the medical device, orthopaedic, aerospace, or precision engineering industries.
- Knowledge of ISO 13485 or other regulated manufacturing standards.
- Experience using vision inspection equipment or CMM systems.
- Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI).
- Familiarity with ERP or electronic quality management systems.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
