Development Associate – Energy Storage (UK / Europe-based)

Our client is expanding its UK and Europe energy storage platform and is seeking a commercially minded development professional to help originate and progress utility-scale battery storage projects. The role covers early-stage opportunity sourcing, land and site development, grid and permitting coordination, stakeholder management, and support for investment-related work.

This position is based in the UK or Europe, and we are looking for candidates currently located in the UK or Europe or who have experience in those markets.

• Monitor market and regulatory developments across the UK and Europe, including power pricing, grid services, and ancillary market trends.

• Source, assess, and progress utility-scale storage opportunities, including greenfield, early-stage acquisition, and co-location projects.

• Lead development workstreams such as site identification, land discussions, grid applications, planning/permitting, and environmental coordination.

• Use market data and digital tools to identify and prioritise new project opportunities.

• Work with landowners, consultants, local stakeholders, councils, and relevant authorities.

• Coordinate with internal teams across engineering, finance, legal, and operations to manage risks and improve project outcomes.

• Support project budgets, schedules, and external consultant management.

Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience in energy, power, infrastructure, or related project development.

• Strong background in development, project delivery, or relevant technical/project work.

• Good understanding of what makes a utility-scale BESS project viable and financeable.

• Experience taking projects through to ready-to-build; exposure to FID or COD is an advantage.

• Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

• Fluent English; additional European languages are a plus.

• Must be currently based in the UK or Europe or has experience in that market.
