About the Role
This is a senior asset planning and people leadership opportunity with a major Wellington region water services provider.

You’ll lead a specialist team focused on treatment facilities and bulk water assets, turning condition, performance, resilience and regulatory insights into clear investment priorities.

This is a role for an experienced water infrastructure planning professional who wants to influence long-term decisions, support reliable services, and contribute to infrastructure that communities depend on every day.

Based in Petone, this is a full-time permanent role offering highly competitive remuneration, aligned to the seniority, leadership scope and technical influence of the position.

You will:
  • Lead strategic asset planning for treatment facilities and the bulk water network
  • Influence lifecycle planning, condition assessment and capital investment priorities
  • Lead condition assessment frameworks and annual inspection planning
  • Support capital project scoping as the planning representative
  • Lead, coach and develop a small technical team
  • Build a high-performing, collaborative and accountable team culture

About You
You’ll bring strong water infrastructure planning experience, technical credibility and the confidence to lead people through complex planning, prioritisation and decision-making.

You are likely to have:
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Process Engineering
  • Around 10+ years’ experience in water infrastructure planning
  • At least 3+ years’ experience leading people or technical teams
  • Strong knowledge of water supply, wastewater treatment, drainage systems and asset lifecycle planning
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks, risk-based planning and long-term infrastructure investment
  • Confidence working with condition assessment data, asset health insights and capital planning processes
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, written reporting and presentation skills
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to coach and motivate technical specialists
