Job Summary
Workbox Staffing is seeking a Material Handler / Hi-Lo Operator to safely and efficiently move, stage, store, and track raw materials, finished goods, packaging, and production supplies throughout the facility. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate inventory, supporting production, and ensuring materials are available when needed. The ideal candidate is organized, safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
Safely operate a Hi-Lo/forklift to move and stage raw materials, finished goods, packaging, tooling, and production supplies.
Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures and material handling processes to help prevent product defects and unnecessary premium freight.
Pull, move, stage, and return materials, packaging, tools, and other items needed for production.
Unpack, lift, move, and arrange raw materials and finished goods in designated bins and storage areas.
Safely store boxes and materials, including replacing damaged boxes to prevent unstable or tipping stacks.
Maintain accurate material locations and inventory according to established procedures.
Complete cycle counts for raw materials, tooling, and other inventory as assigned.
Assist with raw material containment and required inventory or material adjustments.
Work closely with Quality, Production, and Production Control Logistics (PC) to contain and properly dispose of defective materials.
Support PC with inventory control and production scheduling activities.
Assist with shipping and receiving as needed.
Remove trash and maintain clean, organized work areas throughout the plant.
Lead and maintain 5S and visual management activities on the plant floor.
Help support production start-ups, shutdowns, and changeovers.
Perform routine maintenance and inspections on Hi-Lo/forklift equipment.
Follow all safety procedures and material handling requirements.
Participate in Kaizen events and continuous improvement activities.
Identify and assist with resolving material handling issues.
Complete required training and follow established manufacturing systems and processes.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
What We’re Looking For
Previous material handling, warehouse, or manufacturing experience preferred.
Previous forklift/Hi-Lo experience required.
Valid forklift certification/license preferred or required based on facility requirements.
Experience with inventory control and cycle counting preferred.
ERP or production reporting system experience is a plus.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Good basic math skills.
Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
Ability to work quickly while maintaining accuracy.
Strong teamwork and accountability.
Qualifications
Ability to safely operate a Hi-Lo/forklift in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to lift and move 50+ pounds repeatedly throughout the day.
Ability to follow FIFO, inventory, safety, and material handling procedures.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with Production, Quality, Shipping/Receiving, and PC teams.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles is preferred.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or IATF/TS 16949 standards is a plus.
