ADAPT Engineer (Data Engineering & Solution Design)

• Sydney, NSW (Hybrid Working Environment)
• 6-Month Contract
• Approx. $80 per hour (Inclusive of Super)

We are partnering with a leading enterprise organisation to engage an experienced ADAPT Engineer to join a high-performing data and analytics team. This role will suit a hands-on engineer who enjoys designing and delivering scalable data solutions while providing technical leadership across complex projects.

About the Role

You will play a key role in the design, development, testing and support of modern data platforms and pipelines. Working across large-scale data initiatives, you will contribute to solution design, mentor team members, and help deliver high-quality data products that support critical business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and support scalable data solutions and pipelines.
• Produce detailed solution designs and provide technical leadership to engineers and testers.
• Develop end-to-end batch and near real-time data processing solutions.
• Build and maintain data pipelines using Spark, Scala/PySpark, Python and Azure Synapse.
• Design and implement distributed streaming solutions using Apache Kafka.
• Contribute to proof-of-concepts, technical demonstrations and solution workshops.
• Mentor junior team members and promote engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across architecture, engineering and delivery teams.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• 5+ years' experience as a Solution Designer, Technical Lead, Developer, Tester or Support Engineer within technology or consulting environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Scala, Python, SQL and scripting technologies.
• Expertise in Apache Kafka design and development.
• Experience developing data pipelines using Spark, PySpark and Azure Synapse.
• Knowledge of modern data architectures, cloud platforms and big data technologies.
• Experience with NoSQL databases and near real-time data processing.
• Understanding of data modelling techniques including dimensional and relational modelling.
• Exposure to Data Mesh architecture and data product concepts.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and presentation skills.
