Operating from a modern head office, the organisation offers the stability of a large corporate environment combined with a collaborative and down-to-earth culture. This is an office-based position, working five days per week from the Kedron office.
About the Role
Reporting to the Tax Manager, the Tax Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the organisation's tax obligations are met accurately and on time. The position offers exposure to a broad range of taxation matters across a complex group structure and will suit a technically strong professional looking to further develop their corporate tax career.
You will work closely with finance teams across the business, providing guidance on tax compliance matters while supporting broader projects and process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and monitor BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax and Income Tax obligations
- Ensure compliance with relevant Federal and State taxation requirements
- Review tax workpapers, reconciliations and supporting documentation
- Provide taxation advice and support to finance teams across the business
- Conduct tax research and assist with interpreting legislative changes
- Manage tax compliance deadlines and lodgement schedules
- Liaise with external tax advisors and professional service firms
- Support ATO and State Revenue Office reviews, audits and information requests
- Assist with tax-related projects, business acquisitions, restructures and due diligence activities
- Contribute to tax process improvements, systems enhancements and reporting efficiencies
- Deliver training and guidance to internal stakeholders where required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:
- CA or CPA qualification (or be actively working towards completion)
- 3-5 years' taxation experience within public practice or a corporate environment
- Strong knowledge of Australian taxation legislation and compliance obligations
- Excellent analytical, investigation and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel capability and confidence working with financial systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
