We are partnering with a major Australian industrial organisation delivering a substantial capital program within an established heavy manufacturing site in the Southern Highlands of NSW. We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager - Site Integration & Commissioning to take responsibility for bringing multiple capital project packages together through final construction, commissioning and transition into operations.
This is one of those roles where your title may currently be Construction Manager, Commissioning Manager, Project Manager, Project Engineer or Commissioning Superintendent.
What matters most is that you understand what happens on the ground as construction reaches completion and individual systems need to come together, be tested, commissioned and handed over to the operating business.
This role is the interface between the site and the project, including procedures, integration with management systems and ultimately commissioning and handover. It is important to note that while a Project Manager could potentially do the role, its emphasis is much more heavily on construction and commissioning than conventional project management.
What you'll be responsible for
You will coordinate final construction and commissioning activities across multiple project workstreams and ensure systems are ready to safely transition into operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
This is a hands-on site role - Although there will naturally be planning, coordination, documentation and reporting responsibilities, this is not intended to be an office-based PM position. You will work closely with contractors day to day, and during active construction and commissioning periods a significant proportion of your time will be spent on site.
The organisation has dedicated safety support, but the Construction Manager remains responsible for ensuring work is safely executed within the live operating environment.
What we're looking for - Ideally you will bring:
We would particularly like to hear from people who have previously been responsible for taking a plant or major industrial system through: Construction completion → systems integration → commissioning → energisation/start-up → operational handover. You could currently be working as a Construction Manager | Commissioning Manager | Construction & Commissioning Manager | Commissioning Superintendent | Project Manager | Senior Project Engineer | Integration Manager | Start-Up Manager.
There is genuine scope to consider someone coming from a Project Manager background if you have the necessary construction and commissioning orientation.
