About the School
HARKE has partnered with a well-established Year 7–12 independent College in Central Victoria, approximately 50 minutes from both Ballarat and Bendigo. With around 500 students, the College offers a connected school community where staff, students and families are known and supported. The College provides a broad range of pathways including VCE, VCE Vocational Major, VET and School-Based Apprenticeships, with a strong focus on preparing students for life beyond school. Staff benefit from a collaborative environment and strong long-term retention across the teaching team.
About the Position
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Humanities leader to take responsibility for the leadership and ongoing development of the Humanities faculty from Years 7–12.
The faculty includes Humanities and LOTE, with Indonesian and Latin taught through to Year 9. Business Management is offered through to VCE, while Accounting and Economics are not currently offered.
The successful candidate will hold an ongoing teaching position alongside a three-year Head of Department appointment, with a $6,536 annual POR allowance and 0.3 time release.
The College is seeking a high-quality leader who can demonstrate genuine impact within a secondary faculty, including improved outcomes for students, strong staff leadership and experience developing curriculum across the Victorian Curriculum and VCE.
Skills and Responsibilities

Lead curriculum, assessment and teaching practice across Humanities from Years 7–12.

Support student achievement, engagement, wellbeing and safeguarding across the faculty.

Lead and develop teaching staff through clear expectations, mentoring and professional collaboration.

Oversee the ongoing development and implementation of Victorian Curriculum and VCE Humanities programs.

Contribute to whole-school leadership and support a collaborative, high-performing faculty culture.
Requirements

Registration: Current VIT registration or eligibility to obtain it.

Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading a secondary Humanities faculty or comparable curriculum area.

Curriculum: Strong knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum and VCE, with demonstrated experience improving curriculum and student outcomes.

Location: Genuine interest in commuting or relocating to the Central Goldfields region.

Work Rights: Full Australian working rights are essential. Sponsorship is not available.

Relocation: No relocation allowance is available.
