Job Title: Press Operator Division: Burnside Acquisition Department: 5100 Reports To: Production Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Prepared Date: 09/09/26 Summary: Safely operate production progressive die, and hand-transfer die, metal stamping equipment to produce the required number of parts that meet customer and company quality standards in a timely manner Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Safely start, run, and shut down an automatic metal stamping press, conveyors, air-blow off devices, feed and straightening equipment. Skilled in adjusting the press to set and center dies and bring parts into tolerance, experienced with feeding steel from coiler, through straightener, through feeder into the die, know how to adjust roller pressure on said equipment to influence material presentation and control through the die, understand how feed and alignment of material influence part performance. Must be able to use calipers, micrometers, digital indicators, and complex gauges for checking part conformance to tolerances. Set up all peripheral equipment such as guards, conveyors, and lubricators Produce the required number of parts the meet customer and quality standards in a timely manner Perform production related quality tasks such as using hand held gauges to measure or gauging parts, properly handle non-conforming material, properly label and package parts, properly complete the quality documentation system forms and comply with company calibration procedures Perform operator preventive maintenance on automatic metal stamping press including but not limited to cleaning slugs and scrap from the press bed, press reservoirs, press trays, under and around the press, maintaining coolant and hydraulic oil levels, wiping down workbench surfaces, press control surfaces, monitor motor belts for damage or replacement needs, powering all equipment off when not in use (not leaving it to run while on break or at lunch, or during excessive downtime), proper care of shaker trays and motors. Safely operate a forklift. Ensure that housekeeping at the work station is clean, neat and organized while in operation and at the end of shift Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a full-time, temporary-to-hire position with overtime available as needed. What You'll Be DoingLoad and unload parts onto the production line while meeting company quality standards. Set up and operate stamping press equipment. Operate robotic welding equipment as needed. Hang parts correctly on the powder coat paint line. Inspect finished parts for paint quality and defects. Remove completed parts from the hang line and package them into bins or crates. Prepare finished products for shipment. Read and follow operational instructions, work orders, and part numbers. Follow all company safety and operational procedures. Work as part of a team to ensure production goals are met.
