Halal Coordinator

Monroe Consulting Group, an Executive Recruitment firm, is currently partnering with a leading organisation in the Manufacturing industry to source a Halal Coordinator. This opportunity is based in Malaysia.

Position Overview

This role is responsible for ensuring that all manufacturing activities, from the procurement of raw materials through to production, storage, handling, packaging and distribution, are conducted in full compliance with halal requirements. It plays a critical role in safeguarding the organisation's halal certification status and its standing with JAKIM, certification bodies and regulatory authorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead or be a member of the Internal Halal Committee (IHC).
• Responsible for managing the application for Malaysian Halal Certification.
• Responsible for managing halal-related documentation and records.
• Responsible for controlling and updating the HAS Manual in accordance with the requirements of MHMS 2020.
• Responsible for ensuring the HAS Manual is implemented effectively.
• Obtain commitment and approval from the company's top management to develop and implement the HAS.
• Responsible as the coordinator managing IHC activities.
• Lead the HAS development working group.
• Verify documents and activities related to HAS.
• Chair/serve as the secretary for JKHD meetings.
• Ensure IHC functions effectively.
• Verify changes involving raw materials, suppliers, products, processes, and the Raw Material Masterlist.
• Responsible for ensuring the entire Malaysian Halal Certification process is properly implemented by IHC.
• Responsible for ensuring HAS is implemented effectively based on the requirements of MHMS 2020.
• Manage Integrated Pest Control Management.

Key Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Halal Management.
• Minimum 1–3 years of experience in Halal certification management, manufacturing environment, quality assurance or quality control, regulatory affairs, or halal compliance and documentation.

Technical / Functional Expertise

• Well-versed in the latest Malaysia Halal Management System (MHMS/HAS).
• Proficient in JAKIM's MYeHALAL web-portal and the flow of new and renewal applications.

Soft Skills & Leadership Competencies

• Strong coordination and committee leadership capabilities, with the ability to chair meetings and manage cross-functional stakeholders effectively.
• Meticulous attention to detail in documentation control, verification and audit processes.
• Sound judgement and integrity when engaging with top management, regulatory bodies and certification authorities.
