Apply directWe are seeking a Lead / Principal Engineering Geologist to join a high-performing mining team, supporting complex brownfield environments across sustaining capital and heavy haul rail scopes. This is a senior technical role suited to someone who can lead engineering geology and geotechnical inputs, guide design outcomes and provide clear, practical recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
You will work closely with civil, geotechnical and rail specialists, contributing to integrated design solutions across earthworks, track formation, foundations and related infrastructure. The role will also see you mentoring junior team members, reviewing technical outputs and helping maintain quality across project deliverables.
Day to day will include:
- Leading engineering geology and geotechnical inputs across mining, rail and sustaining capital scopes.
- Providing technical leadership across renewals programs, including track formation, earthworks and associated infrastructure upgrades.
- Contributing to pavement design, ground improvement, slope stability and foundation assessments.
- Interpreting geological and geotechnical data to support practical, risk-based design outcomes.
- Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders.
- Providing technical review, governance and quality assurance across deliverables.
- Mentoring and supporting the development of engineers and geologists within the team.
- 10–15+ years’ experience in engineering geology within mining or heavy haul rail environments
- Degree in Geology, Geoscience, Geotechnical Engineering or similar
- Strong background in mining geology, renewals, pavement design and mining project delivery
- Proven ability to lead technical workstreams and influence project outcomes
- Practical, solutions-focused mindset suited to brownfield environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
