The Ministry for Ethnic Communities is seeking a strategic and influential Director, Corporate Services to join our senior leadership team. This is a pivotal Tier 3 role where you will shape organisational performance, strengthen corporate capability, and help deliver outcomes that support inclusion and social cohesion across New Zealand.

About the role
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive, you will:
- Lead enterprise-wide corporate services including finance, HR, risk, planning, reporting, communications, and operations
- Own financial stewardship and performance, ensuring strong governance, compliance, and value for money
- Drive organisational strategy, planning and reporting frameworks, supporting transparency and continuous improvement
- Partner with the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) to deliver high-quality shared services across IT, finance, HR, and procurement
- Advise and influence at Executive level, providing strategic insight to the CE, ELT, and Ministers on performance and accountability
- Oversee communications strategy, ensuring clear, trusted and well-governed messaging internally and externally
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, inclusion and service excellence
What we’re looking for
We are seeking an experienced, values-driven senior leader who brings:
- Proven success in corporate leadership roles within complex organisations, ideally in the public sector
- Deep expertise in financial management, strategy, performance and reporting frameworks
- Strong understanding of government processes, accountability and machinery of government
- A track record of influencing executive stakeholders and leading across diverse functions
- People leadership capability with a focus on building high-performing, engaged teams
- Strategic thinking, political awareness, and the ability to navigate ambiguity
