Machinist III - Swiss Lathe Machinist

Location: South Tucson
Employment Type: Direct Hire - NOT Temp or Contract
Schedule: Mon-Fri 8am-4pm (hours are flexible)
Pay Rate: $30-$32 hour
***eligible for Benefits day 1

Job Description:

1. Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (CNC) Machines to fabricate molds and custom designed parts.

Position Responsibilities

• Meets all the requirements of a Machinist Level III
• Has 5-7 years of experience operating a wide range of conventional and CNC machine tools, with a proven track record of producing high quality parts
• Services as a technical leader, providing direction and oversight to a team of machinists
• Develops and implements comprehensive machining strategies to optimize production, reduce costs, and improve quality
• Analyzes machining data, identifies trends, and makes recommendations to improve processes and procedures
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, production) to identify and address organizational challenges and opportunities
• Participates in the development of new product designs, providing input on manufacturability and recommended machining processes
• Mentors and trains less experienced machinists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development
• Represents the company as a machining authority, interfacing with customers, suppliers, and other external stakeholders

• Vocational/technical background including 5-7 years related experience and/or training

Language Skills

Ability to efficiently and accurately present information and respond to questions from suppliers. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general technical procedures. Ability to write reports and department standard operating procedures

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply basic math and accounting concepts and calculate figures such as percentages and proportions .

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee does not have the need to lift heavy objects but only has to handle general office materials and small parts generally not lifting more than 25 pounds.
