The Opportunity
As the Finance Manager, you’ll join an established manufacturing organisation in a permanent role with responsibility for the financial performance of a major operational site. Reporting to a senior finance leader, this is a broad, hands-on position spanning cost and management accounting, asset and inventory control, financial reporting and operational decision support.
Working closely with site leaders and the wider finance team, you’ll provide clear insight into operational performance, cost drivers and improvement opportunities. You’ll lead a small specialist team, maintain a strong control environment and help improve processes and systems in a fast-paced setting where accuracy, collaboration and practical commercial thinking are highly valued.

The Role
- Lead the site finance function and manage a small team responsible for cost accounting and asset accounting, providing clear direction, support and development
- Oversee actual cost accounting, monthly cost breakdowns, variance analysis and operational reporting, ensuring information is accurate, timely and useful
- Partner with operational leaders and wider business functions to support financial planning, analysis and cost-effective decision-making
- Maintain an effective control environment across fixed assets and inventory, including oversight of the asset lifecycle from purchase through to disposal
- Deliver financial and group reporting in line with company policies, procedures and agreed timeframes, supported by practical insight and recommendations
- Identify and support cost reduction, process improvement and automation opportunities, including within ERP and reporting environments that may not be optimally configured
- Promote strong financial discipline while contributing to a safe, quality-focused and continuously improving manufacturing environment
Your Profile
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Business, with an appropriate professional accounting qualification preferred
- Proven finance leadership experience across processing, manufacturing or another operationally complex environment, including management of accounting staff
- Strong technical capability across cost accounting, management accounting, financial reporting, fixed assets and inventory controls
- Commercially and operationally minded, with strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex information, identify business drivers and recommend practical action
- Confident communicator and relationship builder, able to work effectively with operational leaders, finance colleagues and other business functions
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment shaped by continuous change, with a resourceful approach to systems, process improvement and automation
- Currently hold New Zealand working rights, or present as an exceptional candidate for whom visa sponsorship could be considered. Relocation assistance may also be available
