JOB OVERVIEW:

Business Analyst – Superannuation & Policy Administration

Location: Sydney – Hybrid schedule

Contract: 6-month contract with potential for extension

Industry: Life Insurance / Superannuation

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join a technology transformation program within the Life Insurance and Superannuation space. This role will suit a senior, techno-functional BA with strong experience working across mainframe or legacy applications, ideally within insurance or superannuation environments.

You will play a key role across the discovery, analysis, elaboration, testing and implementation lifecycle, translating business and customer requirements into high-quality user stories, process documentation and acceptance criteria.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert and key contact for client issues, change requests and system/process improvements.
  • Analyse existing business processes and applications to identify opportunities for transformation, improved customer service, cost reduction and operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with Technology, Administration, Product, Legal and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Facilitate and participate in business and technical workshops to investigate problems and elaborate requirements.
  • Develop and maintain business requirements, process design documentation and supporting artefacts throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Translate business requirements into well-defined user stories and initial acceptance criteria.
  • Work with delivery teams to prioritise features and support sprint planning and story elaboration within an Agile environment.
  • Identify business, commercial and technical risks, issues and dependencies and support appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Develop, refine and execute test cases as part of User Acceptance Testing.
  • Support system deployments, implementation activities, release management and change initiatives.
  • Develop change management and stakeholder communication plans, including implementation and training documentation.
  • Provide regular progress reporting, highlighting risks, issues and exceptions.
  • Support post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist operational teams with system/process issues and incidents impacting platform technology and users.
  • Contribute to the development of team capability by sharing knowledge, reviewing documentation and supporting other team members.

About You

  • Strong experience as a Business Analyst, ideally in a senior or techno-functional capacity.
  • Experience within the Life Insurance and/or Superannuation industry.
  • Demonstrated experience working with mainframe or legacy applications.
  • Experience with L400 / Life400 or similar mainframe-based administration systems would be highly desirable.
  • Strong business process analysis, requirements elicitation and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience working within Agile technology delivery teams, including sprint planning and story elaboration.
  • Strong understanding of user story development and experience applying INVEST principles.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and engaging effectively with both technical and functional stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting UAT, implementation, change management and post-implementation activities.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and documentation skills.
  • Ability to assess the business, commercial, process and technology impacts of requirements and proposed solutions.
  • Strong time management and ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and value streams.
