Our client, a leading Hong Kong higher education institution, is appointing an experienced HR Manager to act as a trusted people partner to an assigned business area within its central HR function.
The role requires someone who enjoys balancing advisory work, people operations, governance support and project delivery in a complex, service-oriented organisation.
Key Focus
As part of the HR team, you will be the first point of contact for a designated portfolio, advising managers and employees across day-to-day HR matters as well as more sensitive people issues. The position will cover:
- Partnering with stakeholders on the full employee life-cycle, including hiring, contract matters, staff movements, reward processes, performance discussions, learning needs and employee relations cases.
- Translating HR policies and institutional guidelines into practical advice for internal clients, ensuring consistency, compliance and sound judgement in execution.
- Leading discrete HR work-streams or assigned specialist areas, from planning through to implementation, with a high degree of ownership.
- Coordinating HR committee matters, including papers, meeting logistics, records and follow-up actions where required.
- Providing day-to-day support and guidance to less experienced HR team members to help maintain service quality and operational efficiency.
- Contributing to broader HR initiatives and supporting ad hoc priorities as the function continues to evolve.
Candidate Profile
We are interested in speaking with HR professionals who are comfortable operating in a structured environment and who can combine strong process discipline with sensible, people-focused advice. You will ideally offer:
- A degree qualification from a recognised university.
- A minimum of five years’ relevant HR management experience, ideally with exposure to supervising or coaching others.
- Well-developed communication skills in English and Chinese, with Putonghua capability considered a plus.
- The confidence to interpret information, assess options and provide balanced recommendations to stakeholders.
- A professional, mature and service-minded approach, with the ability to build trust across different levels of the organisation.
- Familiarity with committee administration, governance documentation or formal meeting support.
- A proactive and dependable working style, with the ability to prioritise, follow through and collaborate effectively.
- Proficiency in common office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
