Fund Accountant

A privately owned real estate investment organization is seeking a Fund Accountant to join its finance team in Downtown Toronto. Supporting a dedicated real estate investment portfolio, you'll play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records while working closely with internal stakeholders in a hands-on finance function.

About the Role

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Property Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping activities supporting a dedicated real estate investment portfolio. This is a highly focused role that combines transactional accounting, financial reporting, and stakeholder support. You'll have the opportunity to build strong relationships across the business while contributing to ongoing process improvements and future system enhancements.

What You'll Do

• Maintain accurate financial records, general ledger entries, and supporting documentation for an assigned property portfolio
• Process payments, deposits, and other day-to-day accounting transactions in a timely and accurate manner
• Prepare account reconciliations and assist with monthly financial reporting and analysis
• Support cash management activities and maintain accurate records of financial transactions
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to respond to inquiries and provide financial information related to the portfolio
• Assist with accounting system improvements and future technology implementations
• Maintain organized records and support various finance and administrative activities as required
• Contribute to a collaborative finance team while taking ownership of your assigned responsibilities

What You Bring

• 2+ years of bookkeeping, property accounting, or general accounting experience
• Experience within real estate, property management, or a similar asset-based industry is considered an asset
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with financial data
• Experience with accounting or property management software; exposure to Yardi, Buildium, or similar platforms is an asset
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities independently
• Professional communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach
• A dependable, long-term mindset with a desire to grow within a stable organization
