The Role:
The Digital Accessibility Trainee supports the delivery of digital accessibility and inclusion initiatives while
undertaking a structured traineeship program.
The role provides practical experience in accessibility testing, digital compliance, inclusive design, user
experience principles and project support. The trainee develops knowledge, skills and capabilities through
workplace learning, formal training and o n-the-job coaching, building a foundation for a career in digital
accessibility and inclusion.
Key Accountabilities
Digital Accessibility Support
- Assist with accessibility reviews of websites, applications, documents and digital content.
- Support accessibility testing activities under guidance from experienced team members.
- Learn and apply accessibility standards, guidelines and inclusive design principles.
- Assist with identifying and documenting accessibility issues and improvement opportunities.
- Support remediation and re -testing activities to help improve accessibility outcomes.
Testing and Quality Assurance
- Assist with the use of accessibility testing tools and technologies.
- Learn how digital products are assessed against accessibility standards and requirements.
- Support the recording, tracking and reporting of accessibility findings.
- Contribute to the preparation of accessibility reports and recommendations.
Project and Advisory Support
- Assist project teams to understand accessibility requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the development of accessibility guidance materials, communications and awareness
activities.
- Contribute to accessibility initiatives across digital projects and services.
- Learn how accessibility requirements are incorporated into design and development practices.
Administration and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records, registers and documentation.
- Assist with accessibility metrics, reporting and data collection activities.
- Support project administration and coordination activities.
- Contribute to team planning and continuous improvement activities.
Learning and Development
- Complete all requirements of the traineeship qualification.
- Participate in coaching, training and workplace learning activities.
- Develop knowledge of accessibility compliance, inclusive design and digital technologies.
- Apply learning from formal training in the workplace.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Selection Criteria:
- Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander - Confirmation of Aboriginality or a stat dec is required.
- Genuine interest in technology
- Pass a police check
- Basic computer skills
- Completed year 12 or equivalent
