Mechanical Design Engineer | Galway

My client a leading Irish manufacturer are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly innovative R&D environment, where you'll work on the design and development of new products from concept through to manufacture. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and play a key role in bringing innovative engineering solutions to market.

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:

  • Design and develop new products within a busy R&D team.
  • Produce 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings.
  • Build prototypes and carry out laboratory and field testing.
  • Analyse test results and prepare technical reports.
  • Work closely with electrical and software engineers to integrate control systems.
  • Take products through the full mechanical design process, from concept to production.
  • Participate in technical design reviews and continuous improvement projects.
  • Manage project timelines and maintain engineering documentation in line with ISO 9001 standards.

About You

You'll ideally have:

  • A Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a mechanical design or product development role.
  • Strong 3D CAD experience using Creo, SolidWorks or similar.
  • A good understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM).
  • Experience carrying out root cause analysis and structured problem solving.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative engineering team.

Experience with DFMEA, project management or high volume manufacturing would be advantageous.
