Senior Legal Counsel - Markets Documentation (Team Lead)

PQE Partners are exclusively partnering with a financial services organisation to appoint a senior lawyer into its legal team, focused on leading a trading documentation team.
  
This is a senior role combining hands-on legal expertise with team leadership. You will take ownership of documentation across a range of financial markets products, while leading a team responsible for negotiating key agreements with counterparties globally.
  
Key Responsibilities

• Lead the negotiation of complex trading and financing documentation across derivatives and related products
• Provide legal advice to front office, risk and treasury teams on contractual and credit risk
• Manage and develop a team, setting standards and supporting their ongoing development
• Remain hands-on in complex and strategic negotiations
• Own and evolve documentation frameworks, including templates, playbooks and internal processes
• Partner closely with the business to balance legal risk with commercial outcomes
• Monitor regulatory developments and translate these into practical changes across documentation

  
About You

• Qualified lawyer with strong experience in financial markets documentation
• Deep familiarity with derivatives and trading agreements (e.g. ISDA and related frameworks)
• Experience managing or mentoring team members, or a clear step-up into leadership
• Commercial mindset with the ability to take a pragmatic approach to risk
• Confident engaging with stakeholders across legal, risk and front office
