Slitter Operator – Bag Department

Location: Rockwall, TX
Department: Bag / Flexible Packaging
Shift: D Shift – Monday–Friday, flexible schedule; 6:00 PM–6:00 AM on occasion
Pay: Depending on experience

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and dependable Slitter Operator to join our Bag Department in a flexible packaging manufacturing environment.

The Slitter Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring slitting equipment used to convert large rolls of flexible packaging film into finished rolls used in the production of bags.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate slitting equipment according to production specifications.

• Load and unload rolls of flexible packaging film.

• Adjust machine settings for proper roll width, length, and tension.

• Monitor equipment during production to ensure consistent operation.

• Perform quality inspections and measurements throughout the production process.

• Identify defects such as wrinkles, tears, improper cuts, or incorrect dimensions.

• Read and follow work orders, production schedules, and specifications.

• Perform basic machine adjustments and assist with troubleshooting.

• Record production and quality information accurately.

• Label, package, and stage finished rolls.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

• Follow all company safety, quality, and production procedures.

• Communicate equipment or quality issues to the supervisor or maintenance team.

• Work overtime or adjust schedule when production needs require it.

Qualifications

• Previous Slitter Operator, Machine Operator, Converting Operator, or flexible packaging experience preferred.

• Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.

• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic mathematical calculations.

• Strong attention to detail and quality.

• Mechanically inclined with the ability to learn and operate production machinery.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional 6:00 PM–6:00 AM shifts.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

• Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and handle production materials.

• Ability to lift and move materials as required.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Must follow required PPE and safety procedures.
